Client Job Request - Builder - general in BH12

I need an urgent estimate to make repairs to a retaining wall. Depending on the estimates a decision will be made on whether and which way to proceed with the necessary repairs.

The retaining wall is approximately 2m high and retains a concrete driveway.

I have had a structural engineer view the wall, he has proposed two solutions:

OPTION 1: Full replacement of the 10m northeast wall and the first 2m of the joining northwest wall.

• Wall to be built from a sandwich of 100mm 7 N/sq mm concrete blocks with a 100mm A393 steel mesh reinforced concrete core.
• Base to be 1600mm wide, 250mm deep, reinforced with A393 mesh top and bottom.
• 1200mm H10 starter bars at 100mm centres projecting 500mm.
• Concrete slab to be relaid where excavated to rebuild wall, 150mm deep A393 mesh top over a slip membrane and blinding.

OPTION 2: Stengething of the 10m northeast wall by refacing with a new wall:

• 1200mm by 300mm reinforced concrete base
• 215mm concrete hollow block wall with stainless steel bed joint reinforcement and helifix bars at 450mm centres each way.
